Turnitin’s AI Detector
Turnitin’s AI detection tool is notorious, and it is fueling many controversies. One key thing that changed in 2023 was Turnitin raising their analysis threshold from 150 words to 300 words. If a submission is under 300 words, it won’t show an “AI percentage” at all. Why? Because Turnitin saw a rise in false positives on short texts. So, they decided it’s safer not to judge super-short submissions.
